Shorts Review: Stoopid Buddy Shortz – “San Francisco”

“San Francisco 411” is the name of the delightful puppet talk show that is shown in this short. And while you may have guessed from one of San Francisco’s most popular stereotypes, the talk show deals mostly in penis puns. With Emperor Norton, Bummer and Lazarus as your guide to the city’s most phallic looking buildings, you’ll know all the different ways to call a skyscraper a penis.

The short mostly consisted of the Lazarus, the adorable dog puppet with a studiously cute pair of glasses (so you know he’s smart), battling his dimmer co-hosts about whether the original design for the building in question was a firehouse or the similarly shaped member of a lucky man. And as the talk show seems to get deep and shallow at the same time while discussion how God sees a particular building in reference to its gender, you are left thinking the same thing Lazarus says to close out the short, “Would someone please kill me?” A little crass and the ending only gave up on trying to close it out in a funny way.
