Simpsons-Inspired Wine Bottles Look Just Like Homer & Marge
It really says something for branding when a few colorful bands wrapped around a wine bottle can be so easily recognized as resembling a person (or persons.) Yet that’s just what happens with these new Simpsons-inspired wine designs by Russian artists Constantin Bolimond and Dmitry Patsukevich.
With a nod to minimalist Dutch artist Pieter Mondriaan, the bottles feature only five colors each, yet the yellow, white, blue, black, and tan colors clearly mimic Homer’s skin, eyes/shirt, jeans, shoes, and stubble; and the yellow, blue, white, green, and red obviously imitate Marge’s skin, hair, eyes, dress, and necklace/shoes.
The “Wine, or maybe not?” collection’s bottles contain some subtleties on their tongue-in-cheek labels, such as mentioning that the wine has been aged since 1987 (when The Simpsons first debuted on The Tracey Ullman Show.) There is also some metaphorical text that reads, “The drink was brought to life together with the cartoon characters in 1987. Maybe it is wine, maybe not. We are inviting you to find out yourselves. The contents have been kept secret for already 26 years now. While the ingredients remain the same, their proportions differ from time to time. That is why you will never get bored from this drink! We can assure you that you will not be left disappointed.”
Unless of course you were looking for real wine; in which case, you will be disappointed, because unfortunately these bottles exist in design only. Series creator Matt Groening has famously refused to grant permission for companies to use The Simpsons on alcoholic products, fearing that it would encourage children to drink. You know, unless of course you count the official Simpsons Duff Beer, which is sold in three varieties at the new-and-improved Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
