Hulu nabs exclusive rights to South Park

Hulu gets one over on Netflix.

Later this summer, The Awesomes Season Two will be premiering on Hulu.com, however that just wasn’t good enough for the online network, as the company has announced that they are now powering  and will be hosting every season of South Park known to man. In a statement made public on the Hulu Blog Craig Erwich, Senior VP and Head of Content, had this to say about the acquisition:

When we look for the best of television to acquire and develop, we listen to our fans first and foremost. That is why, today, I am pleased to share that Hulu is now the exclusive home for all seasons of ‘South Park.’ This show has revolutionized TV and it has consistently remained a top 10 most-watched show on Hulu. All summer long, every episode of the series will be available on Hulu and we will be the exclusive streaming destination for season 18 when it launches on September 24th

Last year, Viacom had taken a shit-load of their content off of Netflix and made it available only on Amazon. However, this deal is a bit more serious than the Netflix one because gone are the days of SouthParkOnline.com where you got to watch any episode of South Park you want as many times as you want,  and in comes a new portal powered by Hulu that you can check out here, where starting this Fall you will have to have a Hulu subscription to watch the popular Comedy Central series.

Season 18 just got a premier date announced last week, but suffice it to say, with originals, new FOX ADHD content, and now South Park all available on Hulu, Netflix better hope BoJack is awesome if it wants to offer animation fans an online destination for content.
