Shorts Review: Oishi High School Battle “The Homeschooled Kid”

Since her school is hurdling through space, Oishi gets some new classmates. This can turn out just peachy, right?

Oishi’s principal has an assembly, welcoming all of the new aliens as students and faculty, since they’re floating through space.  After the assembly, Oishi says she is nervous for the new kid, Fred. He’s talking to the guidence counselor, who happens to be a space spider, that wants to lay her eggs inside Fred. He meets Oishi outside the space spider’s office, where Oishi offers to show him around. The aliens are taking over as teachers, and their methods don’t really fly with Fred. Because being smashed or having your soul eaten isn’t extreme or anything. So, he takes a walks out of the door, into space bubble. Back in science class, the teacher is having a little bit of a problem with getting people to learn. But a student that looks like a walking sun ignites the class on fire. Some how, that’s the perfect segue for Oishi to ask Raif to watch a large alien eat a smaller alien, but he’s going to help a female bird “study.” Fred is outside, talking to a huge robot monster that acts like Galactus, who is struggling with the transition from homeschooling as well. They become friends, which just means that the giant robot monster will eat our universe last.

I can’t say that I have a lot of experience with homeschooled kids. However, a few of my cousins were homeschooled through high school, and they are as weird and creepy as Fred is. I like how they are integrating more aliens into the jettisoned school, because we can never have enough aliens in this show. It was a rather light episode for Oishi, which isn’t a terrible thing. There wasn’t a fight, which kind of sucked, but hey, what can you do?  It was a good episode. You should check it out.
