English Dub Review: Naruto Shippuden “Thank You”
Things seem to be going well for Minato, except the Nine-Tails needs to be sealed!
Spoilers Below!
This is going to be a sad episode, so I figured the picture a tearful farewell is in order. The Nine-Tails is still wrecking the village, and there isn’t a lot that the villagers can do. We see Iruka’s parents, and we see how they die. Sarutobi then sends off the ANBU to distract the Nine-Tails, and lead it away from the village. That doesn’t work, but Sarutobi summons Monkey King Enma, and he turns into an adamantine bo staff. That drives the Nine-Tails out of the village, and the rest of the Ninja follow out. Meanwhile, Minato is still fighting Madara, until he teleports off. This leaves Minato alone, while the Nine-Tails is still fighting the ninja from the village. The younger ninja are hauled off to make sure that they dont die, and carry on their legacy. Minato comes back to the village, and summons Gammabunta to hold the Nine-Tails while he teleports the Nine-Tails away. He grabs Naruto and Kushina, and they are away from the village. Kushina uses most of the little chakra she has left, and performs a barrier to keep the Nine-Tails in.
Minato decides to seal half of the Nine-Tails inside himself, and half inside Naruto, along with some chakra from Minato and Kushina. He wants to save the balance of the world, and stop Madara. He knows his son will stop Madara, and he has to do all he can to make sure that happens. He seals Kushina’s chakra so he can learn to control the Nine-Tails. She pleads to Minato to not sacrifice Naruto for power and balance and nation, and to not sacrifice himself. Minato is steadfast, however, and he sees no other way. The most badass way to go out is to sacrifice yourself to others, and Minato proves this. He is giving himself up to make Naruto the best possible ninja he can be. Minato successfully seals half of the chakra inside himself, and then seals the rest of the chakra inside Naruto using an Eight Trigrams Seal. Nine-Tails sees Kushina, and swipes at her.
Minato jumps in front of the attack, taking most of the finger. Giratora shows up, and gives him the key to the seal, so Jiraiya can get the key. Minato is close to death, and he saves enough chakra to save inside Naruto, same with Kushina. Kushina gives Naruto a lot of life advice before the seal begins. And by a lot, I mean a shit ton of advice. It ranges from women, to drinking, to saving money.I think it’s a little early for the birds and bees, to be honest. The most important piece of advice was to be true to himself and have confidence. He uses the Eight Points seal, and then they both pass on.
Back in Naruto’s subconscious, Kushina apologizes for not being there. But Naruto says it made him grow up into who he is. He knows they were always there for him, and always will. There’s more than the Nine-Tails inside him. And Kushina hugs him one last time before her time is up.
This episode is full of death and tears, but it was something completely different than what we get normal on the show. It’s great to see how fully awesome Minato was, and how selfless he truly was. Kushina was the ultimate mother, because she knew what Naruto’s life was going to be like, but she believed in him to pull through.
These two episodes, I feel, are very underrated. These episodes would have been my number 1 moment in Naruto History, but as of the writing, the dubs for these haven’t come out yet. It sucks, because this entire series hinges on what happens here.
All in all, this was a great episode. You can catch it here.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
