Messages From Space Don’t Go Down too Well in Phone Home by Brothers McLeod
Oh, is this not a good time for you? I’m sorry, when is it a good time to make a historic phone call from the surface of Mars? Never, if The Brothers McLeod‘s latest short is to be believed.
Most of hadn’t been born then but we can all paraphrase the first words spoken from the 1969 Voyager Moon landing. The next giant step for mankind will be to travail the red desert that is the planet Mars, what historic and profoundly moving words will be spoken on that occasion? We can but guess. However, perhaps the first phone call you make from the red planet should be to someone who actually gives a fuck, not your uninterested wife who has found some quite interesting things to do in the nine months since you’ve been gone; you might not like what she has to say.
This is the soul crushing scenario of Phone Home, a short recently aired on Channel 4 as part of the Random Acts series. Made by the Brothers McLoed and featuring the voices of Greg McHugh and Lucy Montgomery, Phone Home is a very funny film that takes an otherworldly situation and brings it back down to earth with a thump. This slice of absurdist humor is something we can all relate to, there are some people that aren’t and won’t be impressed whatever you have to tell them, even if you’re calling from Mars. Sometimes it’s better if you don’t bother calling at all.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
