Johnny Cupcakes’ Simpsons Merch Selling Like Hotcakes
Mmm…cupcakes.
The Simpsons-inspired Johnny Cupcakes gear went on sale this past Saturday, and it sold out on their website in 24 minutes, according to the brand’s founder, Johnny Earle.
The 500 specially-designed packages, each housed in “cupcake mix” boxes, feature three collectible products each, involving either Homer, Bart, or Krusty. The items range from t-shirts and hats, to socks, watches, bow ties, wallets, and sunglasses. Check out some of the delicious duds below.
The collaboration began when FOX approached faux-bakery Johnny Cupcakes back in 2012 to produce clothing & accessories for the show’s 25th anniversary, and the results have been highly anticipated, explaining the quick sellout.
But rest easy, cartoon & clothing fans: Johnny Earle foresees more merch production on the horizon. “I don’t see why we wouldn’t,” Earle told The Boston Globe on Tuesday. “We’re probably going to do another batch.”
Johnny Cupcakes was established in 2001, and its founder, Johnny Earle, was voted “America’s #1 Young Entrepreneur of 2008” by BusinessWeek Magazine. Once operating out of the trunk of an ’89 Toyota Camry, Johnny Cupcakes now has retail locations in Los Angeles; London; and Boston, Hull, and Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts; in addition to their site: JohnnyCupcakes.com.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
