Shorts Review: Red Vs. Blue: Season 12 Episode 2

Team Tucker take the fight to the Fed outpost in the latest episode of Red vs. Blue!

Spoilers!

We pick up right from last episode, with Tucker, Felix, Cunningham, Palomo, and Rogersstill staking out the compound from last episode. Everyone but Tucker decide to do a turn and burn, where they destroy the compound. Felix tells Tucker that the previous plan can’t be done, because there is increased security. Cunningham and Rogers take out two guards and suit up in their armor.

Felix then gives Tucker an active camo unit. Everyone infiltrates the compound, and sets up the C4. Tucker, however, goes inside, and gets a Fed to give him all of the information on Washington and the others being held captive. Cunningham tells Tucker that they need to go, but is killed by Locus. Tucker is hiding with the camo on, and it malfunctions just as Locus looks away from Tucker’s position.

Tucker is trying to be quiet, as Locus overhears Palomo over Cunningham’s radio. Locus sounds the alarms, realizing that the compound has been infiltrated. Felix sets off some explosives, just so there’s a distraction. He tells everyone to evacuate, and regroup near the caves. Tucker makes it back to Palomo, but Rogers is led to a bomb to disarm it by the Feds. The survivors are at the cave killing Feds, until Locus finds them. Felix blows the remaining explosives, catching Rogers in the middle of it all.

Surprisingly, there wasn’t a whole lot going on in this episode. Well, except 2 team members die, a compound gets blown the fuck up, and Locus is in pursuit. The episode pours more cement on the argument that Locus is a certified badass. The fact that Felix, the Resistance’s resident badass is scared, also does wonders for Locus’s badassedness. The episode was very streamlined, staying with Tucker’s clan. This is good, because RvB has a tendency to jump to different people frequently, and it can really grate on someone’s nerves.

The CG with Felix was really well done, and the scene with it earned special commendation. The scene had him throw a knife into a Fed’s helmet. How they get the CG in with the game footage gives the show a special touch. The story is actually progressing at a decent pace, which is something that season 11 had a terrible problem with.  Luckily, this is a mission accomplished, of sorts, it’s a wonder how the small group gets home.
