Review: American Dad “News Glance with Genevieve Vavance”

Spoilers Below

We are really winding down on this season of American Dad, guys! Only a couple more episodes left. If you have any recommendations on how I should spend my Sunday evenings from now on, let me know!

On last night’s American Dad, Hayley takes an internship at a local news station that surprise, surprise, turns out to be broadcasting out of the family’s attic… yes, it’s operated by Roger.

Meanwhile, Steve embarrasses himself at school when his teacher exposes his anonymous question to the class. Hayley wanting to further herself at the news station comes up with a plan to solve both of their problems at once; have Steve go missing. Hayley rents a cabin and has Steve stay there. The news blows out of proportion when Stan and Francine are accused of murdering Steve.

“News Glance With Genevive Vavance” was an episode I enjoyed quite a bit. I like Roger’s antics a lot, and there was no shortage of those. Each member of the family also played a role in this one story, with the exception of Klaus. Some of my favorite episodes are the ones the incorporate every character into one focused story. Stan didn’t play a large part in this story overall, but he had a very funny moment which involved some Beanie Babies. We’ve had a lot of Stan focused episodes recently, so this was refreshing. Another things I enjoyed a lot about the episode was towards the beginning when Hayley leaves to go start her internship. The journey she takes only to get back to her house was hilarious. I’d have to say it was my favorite joke, and there were a lot of good ones!

There wasn’t very much about this episode that I didn’t like. Some things that come to mind is that I wish the ending was a little more satisfying. It was pretty predictable, and while that isn’t a bad thing, something a little more creative could have made this more enjoyable. I also would have liked some more screen time for Klaus, I mentioned before that the rest of the family was utilized in this episode, and he was sort of left out. I could have thought of a few ways Klaus could have been involved; for example: have him at the cabin with Steve! The two could have some funny conversations, and there could have been a joke about everybody worrying about Steve, but nobody noticing Klaus was gone! (Thank me later, Seth).

Overall, I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. Whenever Roger is on screen, you know you’re about to laugh. There were a lot of laughs had in this episode. The only few complaints I have a pretty small, but they are just things I think could have made it just a little better. I enjoyed how everything went together and I may watch this one more time before deleting it from my DVR.

How did you feel about last night’s American Dad? Am I being too generous? Enjoy it as much as I did? Let us know!
