Review: American Dad “Honey, I’m Homeland”
Spoilers Below
It’s just another day on the job when Stan goes undercover to thwart a left-wing driven terrorist plan. But when Hayley gives her father some questionable fashion advice, Stan gets “man-napped” by three former members of the Burger King Kids Club. Yes, it’s as funny as it sounds. When Stan returns to his family, something seems strange about him. He suddenly has a desire to help the left-wing agenda, and help fight the man. This is a red flag for Hayley, and she begins to suspect that her father may have been brainwashed.
Meanwhile, Roger invests in a ridiculous amount of candles, but when business immediately plummets due to his outrageous prices, he is left feeling depressed. Steve makes an effort to cheer up his alien pal, but they discover that the power of candle light holds many temptations.
“Honey, I’m Homeland” was a pretty good episode. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Hayley and Stan feud over their political ideologies, so it was nice to see a return to that. I also found the episode to be really funny, especially in the first ten minutes. I think every member of the family was used well, and they all appeared to serve a purpose. The story itself wasn’t anything special. Just your classic brainwashing story, but the twist ending makes up for the lack of originality.
Like I mentioned above, I didn’t care for the story. Seeing a protagonist become brainwashed to serve for the enemy is something we’ve seen a million times. The humor behind it seems to be that instead of an actual terrorist organization at the helm, it’s a trio of left-wing hippies. But it still didn’t do much for me. The ending of the episode resolved many of my troubles though.
Overall, this episode was good. I’d have to say it’s one of my favorites of the season so far. I was laughing from beginning to end, and it felt consistent and on pace. We learn some valuable lessons this episode such as: avoid the candle industry if you don’t know how it works, and mirror-shade glasses will always give you away at a liberal gathering. Hopefully the rest of the season can ride this momentum, but have some more originality.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
