Shorts Review: Smosh Babies #17 – The Cartoon Caper

After watching this episode I felt a great sadness that I felt the need to read the comments below to get a scope on how the Shut Up Cartoons audience perceived the show because watching this show makes me sick as a lover of cartoons and as a producer of video content for the internet. The consensus for Smosh Babies is around the meh category, not spectacular but for the most part not Really Freaking Embarrassing. But if last episode wasn’t enough to convince you this show has become complete ass then The Cartoon Caper will solve that. Basic overview is that Ian, Anthony and the rest of the babies want to watch The LePrawn James Show but their bitch of a caretaker takes the TV before they can see how the show ends. Now they must do the Wile E. Coyote routine of doing a bunch of various unconnected stunts until the plot gives up, shows something stupid and resolves the conflict.

This is becoming a really big issue in Smosh Babies. It just can’t seem to calm down and just wants to shove as much comedy down your throat without any sort of focus. this makes the show look and view like a cluttered mess. Once again also, Smosh Babies has given us so many new examples of terrible sound design. From the ever classic lip movement not matching the audio to random stabbing sound effects. I almost hate to do this, and even though I liked the show, this episode was quite honestly the most painful for me to sit through. Only three episodes left. Hopefully it can get better from here… but I doubt it.
