They did it. Sunnyboy Entertainment finally did it. Episode 5 of Otaku Taco Truck was finally both surreal, funny, and actually laid out a firm vision of what the series goal is. You don’t know how happy I am to see this come because while the episode isn’t perfect, Otaku Taco Truck finally seems to grasp what it can really do with its concept.

But first, the story. We first get a glimpse into our villain Mamma So’s EVIL lair, where we catch up with the high pitched wiener kid from the first episode and more or less finally see the character dynamic between them. But it seems the Otaku crew is making its way to Mamma So’s lair, so to slow them down she launches a deep voiced panda at the crew. Through a long, actually chuckle worthy, dialogue we hear of Mamma So’s plan to use their oven to rule over the entire food industry and we get to see a panda grow to Godzilla size because of rice.

This is finally the episode where we get to see the stakes of the series. What our protagonists are fighting for. The reason I advised last episode to become episodic was because that in the serial formula the writer failed to make clear what our heroes goal was and what would happen if they didn’t reach it. Now with a clear goal and stakes shown the story of Otaku taco Truck is focused and ready to really show of its surreal Otaku brand humour. Hopefully pink haired girl will finally have a point in coming episodes.
