Shorts Review: Forlorn Funnies – “Nobody”

Forlorn

We all know that one, weird guy. He’s your cubicle mate who doesn’t really care about the way he dresses. He comes into your restaurant alone and all the waitresses pray he doesn’t sit in their section. He messes up family occasions. But yet for all those flaws, he’s the one that always sparks the most interesting conversations, even if he’s not around. I worked as a chef in this one kitchen alongside a guy named Dennis. Dennis was mid-40s, single, and was all but certain that the government was out to get him. He really had no moral filter or concept of what was the right or wrong topic to bring up in a crowded room or morning huddle. Regardless of what stupidity spewed from his mouth, myself and the rest of the guys would spend the next hour or two on whatever topic Dennis brought up weather we wanted to or not. It ranged from a myriad of topics ranging such as the government polluting our waters with sugar to slow us down as a race or how slow his Internet was running while he was streaming porn the night before, but it always left us talking and wondering what was next.

This video is pretty much Dennis. Only animated.

The awkward topic. The far away stare. The subtle threat of violence if you didn’t continue to listen. It was all there.

The short itself is animated nicely with the music lending a lonely, endearing, and almost scary tone. That awkward feeling you get from watching this is supposed to be there so don’t try to fight it. Enjoy!
