Review: Mother Up! “The Prophet Apple”
Spoilers Below
Apple gets spooked about the fact that the world has strangers and she takes it out on her brother by macing him right in the face thereby leaving him blind. This inspires Dick to accept that he is blind and different from the outside world so he starts trying to do a bunch of shit that he thinks he is good at, but he isn’t…like magic. It isn’t long until he gets his vision back, but it doesn’t help Dick in being a Magic Rich.
Meanwhile, Apple continues to be paranoid about everything, so much so that she starts taking all of the joy from her life. Eventually she does go outside, but Apple gets struck by lightning and given the Mark of Light that is supposed to give her powers. Now labeled the ”chosen one’, Apple and Rudi get to pretty much run the town however they see fit and even make a profit while doing so.
The other moms in the neighborhood start calling for Apple to prove her claims, but the majority of the community is totally buying Rudi and Apple’s BS even with her brother as a terrible opening act. Jenny joins the marketing campaign from Rudi and Apple’s popularity soars, but Jenny uses the opportunity to turn Apple against her own mother by promising that she’s some sort of fortune teller. This causes Rudi to want to call off Apple’s reign of terror and ruin her clout with the neighborhood. Apple comes down from her God perch and decides to just go back to being a normal kid.
Mother Up! continues its strong streak of pushing out quality complete with thunderstorms, entertaining cutaways, and downright silliness. We even got to see Jenny return and get some good face-time which is good because she’s Rudi’s best villain by a mile. Unfortunately, Dick’s story fell by the wayside and really was unnecessary.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
