Comics Review: Bravest Warriors 2014 Annual Catbug
Catbug has his own special! Is it worth the price? Find out after the jump!
Spoilers!
“A is For…”
This story is just Catbug reciting an incomplete alphabet. Not much of a story, though. Some of the letters are funny, and definitely good for a few chuckles.
“Love Rejuvenation”
Wallow and Catbug are practicing to recreate what looks like a music video. When they almost reach a breakthrough, Wallow gets called into action. Both of them manage to use moves from the video, Wallow while fighting, and Catbug while practicing. Wallow gets back, and when he goes to practice more, beth pulls him away. Same thing happens with the moves happen as before. Wallow gets back again, only for Danny to change the video, which earns him a boot from the ship.
“We Killed Catbug”
Catbug is wigging out, and that raises concern from Danny, Beth and Chris. Beth sees that he has a bunch of diseases that bugs have, and that cats have. Chris grabs Catbug to help, but he grows megasized. After they kill mega Catbug, a new Catbug shows up. Wallow says that he wasn’t sick, and just shedding. Anyone who is witness to it gets a wish, since it’s a once in a lifetime transformation.
“Catbug and the Cosmic Quest”
Catbug tries to wake the guys up, but everyone is asleep. Then he is transported to some celestial looking being, who can send Catbug on all adventures. Due to the calliope, he was able to do every adventure ever, and become the Calliope King. The last panel is just Catbug dreaming of all of this.
This was a funny read. This one-off shows why Catbug is one of the most liked characters of the Bravest Warriors franchise mainly because he is just too damn cute. This was a quick read, though, so I feel $4.99 is a bit much. All of the stories have a different look, with We Killed Catbug looking the most like the regular comic. Love Rejuvenation and Catbug and the Cosmic Quest are the best of the bunch, but only by a bit. They were funny, yet told a quick and concise story.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
