Chase Carey says ‘The Simpsons open up Digital Doors’

I think it’s great that the show that pretty much but FOX on the map here in the United States i.e. The Simpsons, is still being used to open new frontiers 25 Seasons later. Apparently, according to Deadline.com, that is certainly the case when last week COO Chase Carey professed that The Simpsons will be the face of FXX after the series was picked up for syndication on the FX-spinoff network.

“There are times when our distribution businesses have a unique ability to take advantage of a set of rights. And The Simpsons is a perfect example.” The show will “help brand…and help drive” FXX, Carey adds, but Fox isn’t “turning it into The Simpsons Channel.”

Fox hopes to “create some precedents” with its digital plans later this year, and The Simpsons are going to be front and center when that happens. But how? Chase wasn’t all that specific, but are we looking at a model similar to what FOX is doing with FOXADHD? How does the FXNow app fit in? Chase Carey has said that he has no plans to turn FXX into a Simpsons channel, but when there’s nothing else on do you really have a choice?

In any case, we have a new episode of The Simpsons on the way, March 9th, get a first-look here.
