Channel Frederator Present: Asian Moms by Natalie Kim
What else do the guys at Frederator and Cartoon Hangover have for us this week? Find out as we take a look at Channel Frederator’s Saturday Morning Cartoons featuring Asian Moms.
With the almighty Bravest Warriors dominating everyone’s watch schedule, it would be easy to miss out on the other cartoons that Frederator has to offer but you really should look at Frederator’s other YouTube channels, including their self named Channel Frederator, who this week offer up 3 very short shorts from Natalie Kim.
Written and voiced by Kim and animated by Tyler Landis and Kevin McCleod, Channel Frederator present Asian Moms (Kimchi Power). Following the stick-man school of stripped down animation, Asian Moms is an autobiographical comedy featuring Natalie and, of course, her Mom.
These tiny vignettes are funny and definitely suit the minimalist style but I think they should be longer. I do get these are 30 second looks at the horror our parents inflict upon us and that each short revolves around a quick punchline, but I do think the range is there to extend each cartoon into a longer segment. For instance, the shopping excursion is cringe worthy enough to carry a five minute reel of its own. That’s pretty much my only quibble with Kimchi Power, I’ll be tuning in next time to see what embarrassment Natalie’s Mom can serve up.
