15 Reasons why you should still be watching Family Guy after 15 years
15 years ago a 27-year old kid from Kent, CT had successfully completed and been given air-time on a new animated series called Family Guy. The name of the episode was ‘Death Has a Shadow’ and it aired on January 31st, 1999. Since then, Family Guy had been cancelled a bunch of times only for it to come back and really help instill Seth MacFarlane as a Hollywood power player and has gone on to expand his career into music, film, and even writing.
That said, Family Guy is still good and to this day has people talking when major events go down or when characters die. With that in mind, we thought instead of just draining you guys with a ‘Top 15 Episode List’ like some other outlets, we did something a bit more creative. So, here are 15 reasons why you should still be watching Family Guy:
1) The show still has laugh out loud moments:
The cutaway gags are still insane, the dialogue still raunchy, and no punches are pulled…good ol’ fashioned Family Guy.
2) Joe:

Peter still DRILLS Joe on being handicapped and if you recall the early relationship between the two was strenuous at best. Nowadays, Joe usually joins Peter on his high brain adventures although he still has to put his best foot forward not only because he’s a local police officer, but also because he is a paraplegic.
3) Will the writers continue to take chances after Brian?:
Late last year, Brian was killed off and it created a furor with Family Guy fans all over the country. Since then, Brian has returned, however it begs the question…could the writers pull similar shit in the future?
4) Cleveland Brown is coming back!:
Cleveland is coming back to Quahog after his own show was canned last year by FOX. This could effectively see the Brown-Tubbs and Griffin families come to a head.
5) Meg:

Meg had one of the better episodes this season called ‘Fistful of Meg’ and she’s still the best at being on the receiving end of all of Peter’s jokes, though Lois and Chris certainly do a good job of piling it on.
6) The Family Guy/Simpsons crossover:
Actually, this whole season the Family Guy writers have taken stabs at The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and South Park, but now there’s an actual crossover episode with popular characters from The Simpsons happening next Fall on FOX.
7) Stewie:
He’s still the funniest character on Family Guy and the most diverse. His scientific explorations with Brian are legendary and have manifested into a sort of spin off called…
8) Road To/Brian and Stewie:
A lot of people point to ‘Road to the Multiverse’ as the best ever episode of Family Guy, but I’ve always enjoyed the ‘Brian and Stewie’ episode as my favorite. It showed that Family Guy can be more than just about cutaway gags and Non sequiturs, but rather take these characters and put them in more uncomfortable and dramatic situations.
9) The Cast:
When this show first aired, no one really knew who Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, or even Mila Kunis were. Nowadays Seth is a superstar, Seth Green is at the prime of his career, Alex Borstein is a trusted producer for Family Guy, and Mila Kunis is a blockbuster heavyweight hottie.
10) The Home Releases:
You didn’t think it was all about the show did you? You really owe it to yourself to somehow watch Family Guy uncensored whether its on DVD, Blu-ray, or otherwise. You just have not lived until you hear Brian tell Quagmire ‘I Fucked Your Dad’ in all of its glory. It really is a different experience and it adds a whole other element to the show.
11) Increases the chances for a Family Guy movie:

Seth MacFarlane has stated that after Ted 2, the thing he’d like to concentrate on next is a Family Guy feature film…challenge accepted!
12) The brand is HUGE:
Merchandise, video games, clothing, you name it Family Guy has a bunch of different ways in which you can have fun with the characters. Hell, last year, Seth and the gang even did a live show in Toronto!
13) The series is on like…75 times a week:
Seriously, Family Guy is on TBS, Adult Swim, CW, FOX, and is even in Spanish on WFUT! If you are bored or depressed or just want to watch good TV that isn’t terrible reality TV or endless Storage Wars marathons, Family Guy MIGHT just be on.
14) The possibility of more specials:
The Star Wars spoofs are legendary and Family Guy has done a bunch of other cool ideas for episodes like ”Partial Terms of Endearment” and ”And Then There Were Fewer” where the topics were just too extreme for TV or made for a great mystery.
15) The show makes for great water cooler convo:

To this day I hear people talk up their favorite cutaways and scenes from Family Guy and if it’s memories from TV that make the work week go faster, then how is that a bad thing?

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
