Review: Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitsu ”The Art of the Silent ”
February is a BIG month for LEGO, see if the franchise is primed for success after the jump!
Spoilers Below
The new season of Ninjago is in full swing here in new Ninjago City, but there are certainly a bunch of changes. Right off the bat Wu is captured by the OverBorg and his minion Pixel, but he grows impatient with his current physical state and orders Pixel to go and retrieve the Ninjago weapons. Strangely enough, the guys head out to go see a completely reformed Garmadon whom now goes by Sensei and is there as a pseudo-replacement for Wu until we can get him back. Zane stays back to keep an eye on the weapons and soon captures Pixel trying to make a run with them. He quickly catches up to her, grabs her, and brings her back to the other ninjas. Zane then uses his staff to hack into Pixel to see what’s going on and we learn all about what the Overlord is looking to do. Nindroids show up and a big battle ensues and the Ninjago have to escape. The Overlord gets PISSED and vows to take revenge.
Zane and Pixel stay behind, but the rest of the ninjas split up and make haste after the Overlord. Eventually, they all meet up at the Overlord’s HQ and break in but they get caught rather quickly leading Pixel to have to go and aide them in their battle. Unfortunately, Overlord makes his way over to where Garmadon and his son Gold Ninja are and a big chase goes down, but the Ninjago are able to destroy the headquarters causing a wave that disables all of the droids and allows all of the Ninjago to get to safety.
Overall, Ninjago is probably the strongest of all of the LEGO animated franchises mainly because the arcs are light years ahead of anything Legends of Chima has done, although not nearly as comical as the LEGO Star Wars. However, Chima and Ninjago have ONE thing in common…they ”borrow” a LOT from other franchises. Right away you guys should notice the Zane staff is awfully similar to that of Loki’s from The Avengers, and you can also see quite a bit of DNA from the Power Rangers. That said, Ninjago isn’t a bad series and the fight scenes are some the best I’ve ever seen for a CG series and that alone should keep fans hooked.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
