Review: Mother Up! ‘Say Hello to My Landscaper Friend’
Spoilers Below
Rudi’s yard is a mess and everyone in town are giving her shit about it. Problem is doing yard work is a lot of manual labor which of course is a problem for our princess. Eventually, Rudi heads to Greg’s house for assistance, but he’s unavailable. Rudi ends up taking Sarah to the hospital, but on the way there they drive past a bunch of immigrants looking for work which is GREAT for Rudi because now she has cheap help. Turns out this cheap help is a guy named Salvadore and evidently he’s the real deal much to the chagrin of Greg.
The next day, Greg dons a disguise and stands in for Salvadore so that he can impress Rudi. Problem is he sucks at landscaping so he hires a company to do it instead. Salvadore eventually returns and Greg can’t keep up so he decides to call INS. The agents show up, but the immigrants hide long enough for Rudi to come up with a plan…marry Salvadore.
While the ceremony is going on, Greg gets caught by the agents and is subjected to a line of questioning which then leads to him getting deported. However, marriage isn’t quite working out for Rudi so she beats the shit out of Sal. This causes her dream man to divorce Rudi and take off. Thankfully, Greg is able to break out of prison and is able to work his way back onto Rudi’s yard.
Meanwhile, Dick has a lemonade stand, but Travis starts bullying him into a cut of the profits PLUS free lemonade. Dick closes down his operation, but Travis makes him get back in it. Apple ends up spiking the lemonade so that the stand gets kids addicted and they can make more money.
Travis shows up and starts talking trash to Dick and Apple, so the kids decide to get back at him so that they can get THEIR equal share. Inspired by his mom, Dick seeks out the illegal immigrants for someone to kick the shit out of Travis and it works. Dick now becomes the lemonade mafioso of the neighborhood and he uses the immigrants as his hit men. Unfortunately, he runs out of lemonade sugar so he starts to lose his grip on his industry. Business starts slowing down so the hit men quit the lemonade business leaving Dick with an addiction and almost no teeth.
Eventually, Dick sees a doctor and is able to get better, but Sarah gets an eye infection so bad that Rudi has to call 911!
I probably have seen the movie Scarface 150 times so I thought the Apple/Dick story was really hysterical. As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the kids are turning into great characters for this series. Rudi had a decent story going too, but I don’t think that she had really any jokes to speak of. Also, the rate at which the two story lines would dance back and forth have to be some of the fastest I’ve ever seen. Worse yet, I didn’t see ONE commercial throughout the episode…usually not a good sign for the longevity of the series.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
