Review: Lucas Bros. Moving Company ‘Before and After Models’

Keef and Kenny run out of cereal money, so their friends convince them to shave their beards so that they can be the next Wayans. However, only Keef shaves as a sort of test drive for the brothers to see how the market takes them. As luck would have it they meet a guy named Mr. Dream that offers them a modeling contract worth MORE than enough to get new cereal. Problem is when the brothers show up at this dude’s house, Keef becomes the big time celeb whilst Kenny gets kidnapped! Turns out Mr. Dream is keeping Kenny trapped so that no one sees Keef with a beard. Jerrod knows all about Dream’s hideout and tells him exactly what he needs to do to get his brother back. What takes place is maybe the coolest sequence that you really just need to see. Keef saves and shaves Kenny which causes a big huge thunderstorm which kills Dream and let’s the brothers purchase a whole bunch of cereal for their roommate. The guys make a promise to NEVER shave again.

This show is getting better every week, and yes the premises and climactic sequences are set up similar to Regular Show, but the situations that the Lucas Bros are put in to get into those different plots and whatnot are way more grounded which leads to more surprising reactions when shit starts to go down. Regular Show already gives that away with its characters, so the fact that Lucas Bros. throws in more genuine Beavis and Butthead ingredients gives this show its true identity. Friend’s Night is also having fun with this show as it looks as though they get to throw in more gags into the background design and work with different animation techniques than most of the other programming they draw for. Lucas Bros. and High School USA! are probably the best equipped to being 22-minute shows on FOX’s Sunday Night AniDom, but why fuck up a good thing?
