Warning Spoilers Below – With An Ozen

I love the intro to this show – it just feels distinctly Chozen-y. Have you seen it? Don’t lie to me, you know I can tell when you’re lying to me. LOOK ME IN THE EYES WHEN YOU DO THAT SHIT. That’s how daddy likes it.

Hip-hop culture is not a big fan of parodying itself (for the most part), which would be one of the biggest challenges against Chozen in my eyes (besides stuck up snooty fools who don’t understand any of the shows references or slang – or rap’s long time embrace of casual homophobia). So far, I haven’t picked up any whiffs of support from the rap community and it makes me wonder if either nobody within that realm is watching Chozen yet, or that they have detected it and really don’t appreciate the mockery (or gayness). Only time will tell I guess how this show inspired by hip-hop culture may influence (or possibly be totally rejected by) hip-hop itself. THOUGHT PROVOKING SHIT.

The rap songs featured in the show so far have danced the line between “so bad that it’s funny” and “please rip my ears off of my head because I feel like I have betrayed the rap gods by supporting such terrible flow” – and it makes me wonder “can’t we do parody in a more impressive display?” I’d cite The Lonely Island as a source that this can very well be possible. Bitch you know I want that cake, but this ain’t for looking at, imma eat that cake. CAKE CAN MEAN MONEY OR ASS.

Make better raps dudes – have it parallel the level of your comedy writing (which is pretty damn good).

So this episode’s plot featured Chozen and the gang infiltrating college further, and getting all kinds of wild (this is in no way a helpful plot summary). Honestly though, the beautifully delivered rapey one liners and a supershowcase of voice talent are what make this show great, the plot isn’t that important – so don’t sweat it Chatchi – just enjoy the banter and watching these voice Titans play. I’M CALLING PEOPLE CHATCHI NOW.

A handful of laugh out loud moments paired with terrendous (terrible + horrendous) raps earned this week an 8.5 if you were wondering.

Catch y’all next week, until then I will leave you with Nate Doggs (RIP) eternal words.
