AniDom Weekend Wrap Up: Adult Supervision And Too Fat For Sumo

 

Here are some takeaways from this past Sunday’s Animation Domination:

1) Judas Priest is STILL not Death Metal

2) The ode to Hayao Miyazaki on The Simpsons was just so awesome. I actually think in terms of detail, only The Simpsons and Futurama are the best because they really make sure to do research and pay respect to the fandom surrounding whomever they are looking to shout out too and this tribute was just another level.

3) I like Comic Book Guy, but am I the only one who wishes he had a different name?

4) This is the second episode in a row where The Simpsons did a Radioactive Man thing. I’ve always wanted to see a soup to nuts Radioactive Man show or special because the comics are just the best.

5) I love how Bob’s Burgers turns ordinary events like slumber parties, thanksgiving, etc into big deals.

6) Kathryn Hahn and Rachel Dratch were in the episode and both did a great job. I’ve mentioned in prior reviews that there may not be another series that integrates their guest stars like Bob’s Burgers does.

7) Family Guy was a lot of fun with the three fairy tales, but I’m a little tired of the premise.

8) Stewie is always the girls in those things, too.

9) In the past five episodes of Family Guy, Brian has been killed, replaced, brought back, and most recently turned into a horse, wolf, and cow.

10) Peter saying good night to his family at the end was hysterically written.

11) Joe was a horse carriage…pretty disturbing, too.

12) Another really strong episode for Fran. Too bad this is the last season of American Dad on FOX, but I hope she continues to grow on TBS.

13) Dear animation writers, I am tired of Game of Thrones gags.

14) I don’t care about The Following and now that the Cowboys have been knocked out I really don’t care about the Super Bowl.
