Review: Family Guy ‘Into Harmony’s Way’

Spoilers Below

The laughs are a plenty, but the story building lacks what once made Family Guy one of the greatest animated sitcoms of all time.

So instead of a breakdown of the plot (Peter and Quagmire accidently start a Simon & Garfunkelesque folk band, go on tour, do Conan, etc.), let’s take a look at the quips, which make this episode worthy. The guys get a Jewish producer, who once was a famous record producer and owned a company called Mort Town (guess who it is).

They write songs about how every food taste better with melted cheese (obviously) and how they knew Alyssa Milano would grow up to be hot (OBVIOUSLY). The writers also poke fun at women who wear yoga pants and say they workout but don’t, women who cry wolf about rape and how women can’t carve a turkey (if you’ve been in a relationship during the holidays, you’ll get it), so recommend this episode to all the females in your life.

Family Guy has been lacking for some time, and it’s only because MacFarlane is too busy on other projects. He leaves his first born in the care of other people, who work nine-to-five making jokes, not stories. I even believe he’s weaning himself from voice performing, having started with Brian.

But whatever the layout, Family Guy still carries tons of laughs and is still as controversial as always. Just don’t walk into this episode expecting a primetime Emmy-worthy plot, because all the good writing was put into cutaway gags, one-liners and other wisecracks.
