Shorts Review: Oishi High School ‘Tara Face’

After watching the season 2 premier of Oishi, I am left with only 1 question: Where was this show when I was a preteen? The high school from Power Rangers mixed with some Sailor Moon aspects and clearly on peyote, this show would have been my favorite FOR SURE! But alas, I grew up in a time well before live action/faux anime hybrids. I’m just thankful that they exist now. Kids nowadays…always getting better shit than me.

So here’s the skinny: Oishi spent the summer at her mom’s new digs, but they don’t allow pets. Tara stepped up and took on the pet-sitting role and in return, Noodles filled her face pores with his young. Mucusance is back and wants to rekindle his relationship with Oishi, but Oishi has learned a thing or two about love since they last saw each other. He demands a trip to the Olive Garden and Oishi walks off. Later, in chemistry class, Tara’s head explodes and Noodle’s young are flung across the room.

I’ve gotta say that the production values on this show have jumped considerably since the first episode. The actors keep pace with their animated counterparts with little to no overacting to speak of. It takes a lot for me to watch live action crossovers because they usually just end up being terrible, but I feel as if Oishi High School Battle may have broken the mold. I know where I’ll every Friday until the season ends, and you should too, if for nothing else you’ll get a couple of cheap laughs and animated boobies.

And who doesn’t like animated BOOBIES!?!
