Comics Review: Bart Simpson #87

Spoilers Below

Prankenstein’s Monster

Professor Frink builds a new robot that can emulate personality traits. Originally built with Lisa in mind as it’s inspiration, Bart becomes the guinea pig and one zapp later and WHAM we’ve got a Pranking Robot. This droid is serious too, even taking Bart’s spot as the best prankster in Springfield which pushes Bart into retirement. With all of Bart’s extra time he is able to focus on his studies and sax playing which annoys the hell out of Lisa so much that she decides to help her brother in getting back at the robot. The duo does just that by setting up a trap that short circuits the robot and returns it to Frink’s lab as a factory reset.

Inherit the Windfall

Milhouse’s dad, Kurt gets a pretty hefty inheritance and he uses it to invest in a candy store located at the mall. Of course, this now makes Milhouse the most popular kid in school which drives Bart crazy. As a result, Bart tries all sorts of measures to make Milhouse and his dad look bad, but nothing really takes. Turns out Milhouse’s Fuster Cluck of a father is able to screw up a good thing all himself just fine.

The Sideshow Redemption

Sideshow digs a hole from his prison cell all the way to Springfield Police Department.

This was probably one of the better Bart Simpson issues in a while and to have it capped with a short but funny Bob strip is a good thing. This issue is certainly a great buy, and is maybe one of Bongo’s better releases of the year.
