Review: Legend of Korra “Harmonic Convergence”
Who’s ready for part 2 of the season finale? I sure am! Find out what Nick has in store before they had shown the final two episodes on nick.com now!
Spoilers Below
Well, the gang is on the SS Conspicuous, heading towards the Southern Water Tribe. Everyone is taking the chance to either heal, train, or relax before the big fight begins. Korra is kicking the everloving crap out of a training dummy, and Bolin found it right to raid Varrick’s personal stash of clothes. Mako dropped the ball by not telling Korra they had broken up…you know, the whole amnesia thing. Bolin is riding him about it, saying he needs to say something. Tenzin does a very not Tenzin thing, and suggests they crash and bang their way through the blockade, in the name of his daughter. Just then, Asami gets a distress signal from the tribe, saying Tarloq got captured.
They hit up Kitara’s home, to hopefully get a fix for Jinora’s spirit. While Kitara is helping Jinora, they are listening to one of Bumi’s war stories, which triggers an idea, that they should hit the Southern Spirit Portal from above instead of going through the troops. Unaloq finally debriefs the creeper twins on his full plan, and they still want to go home.
At the portal, all of the corrupted spirits are flying around, and Unaloq’s troops are engaging Team Avatar. The two pronged attack of Bolin and Mako seems to work, and they make a sizable dent in Unaloq’s forces. Korra and the Aang siblings make it near the portal, but the corrupted spirits are making Oogi lose altitude. Bumi has a pretty badass moment, where he takes a spirit, and drags it off the bison. The twins see the plane, and immediately pursue it.
Both, the plane and the bison crash, leaving everyone prisoner. Unaloq tells everyone his plan to fuse with Vaatu and become the dark Avatar (CALLED IT!!). As Unaloq is slipping further into insanity, the creeper twins are even a little nervous about all of this. So, the only person who didn’t get caught is Bumi, who is staring down a spirit. He picks a fight, then decides to play a song. He notices that the song he is playing is making the spirit dance and play a little nicer. Just then, Pabu and Naga show up to assist Bumi.
Back at the camp, Korra is pleading with the twins to let her go. The twins will never betray their father, but seem very naive and ignorant to how he’s been acting. Bumi actually infiltrates the camp, and gets the cackle of spirits in the camp to attack him. He gets into a robot, and starts to destroy the camp inadvertently. He ejects himself from the mech, trips the twins, with Naga incapacitating them.
They make their way to the Spirit Portal, and they lay out their plan. They walk into the portal, Tenzin and his siblings go to find Jinora while Korra, Bolin and Mako take on Unaloq. Korra breaks off to seal the portal, leaving Bolin and Mako to fight Unaloq. The fight here is awesome, but not as good as Bolin’s fight from last episode. Korra doesn’t have enough time, as the Harmonic Convergence begins as she tries to seal the portal. What’s nice, though, is that everything gets a nice sheen of purple and the Aurora Borealis. To end the episode, Vaatu breaks out of his tree, setting up the final two parts of the finale.
Thank freaking Jeebus himself, this season finally picked up! these last few episodes have been great! The slow, plodding beginning was worth wading through to get to this. The fight between Unaloq, Bolin and Mako was awesome and a lot of the plot points have gotten their ending.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
