Mr. Structor makes the kids spend an entire weekend like it’s the early 90’s without cell phones. Blackstein seems to have the most experience in living without technology. Amber and Cassandra have to babysit Wally. All of the sudden, a guy with a chainsaw calls the babysitters, attacks them, and kidnaps Wally. Problem is no one knows the best way to call the cops.  Thankfully, they get a hold of Brad and he comes over to help rescue the girls, but Marsh is the one that runs the guy over with his car…or so we thought! They head over to Blackstein’s house so that they can call the police because he’s the only one who knows the number. Unfortunately, it’s the Jewish holiday of Sabbat and he’s not allowed to make calls. He does know the number for the cops so he just tells the other kids how the call them. Officer Duffy shows up and shoots the murderer and we find out it was Mr. Structor. We find out that he was just trying to be a good teacher and that he was trying to show the kids they don’t need to be connected to technology.

Not a bad episode, except for the fact that the time lines are a bit off in the history of mobile phones. In the early 90’s we actually had what was called ‘2G’ services as opposed to the current 4G LTE stuff we have now. Granted the space wasn’t as developed as it was now nor was there any of the features that you have today, but they were there. I would have maybe preferred seeing the characters react to other 90’s practices like listening to music, not having a great selection of Cable TV, or better yet if they were unable to watch High School USA! when it was supposed to be on Eastern Standard Time and instead having to buy the episode through Youtube because it wasn’t available on the FOXADHD.com site nor Hulu NOR Amazon download. Then and ONLY then, I can see the kids being stressed out.
