Review: High School USA! ‘Choices’

Amber begins her class morning by puking in the stalls whilst Mr Structor takes a leave of absence. We find out that Amber maybe pregnant despite the fact that she’s a virgin and Cassandra knows ALL about it. Amber’s mom is thrilled about the news, but no one knows who the dad is so Amber is wildly inconclusive as to whether or not she should even have this kid. Thankfully, Amber has about six months to decide whether or not she wants to keep it and from the sounds of it she’s gonna need everyday!

Blackstein gets a big fucking dog and several months later the thing looks like the dog from Ghostbusters. Structor comes back and Amber is getting bigger. Structor’s sub teacher, Ms. Temple tells Amber to terminate the pregnancy and she seems to like that idea so Marsh makes a list of the pros and cons in having this kid. Not having the kid wins out, so Marsh drives Amber and the whole gang to the abortion clinic and luckily get there before the doctor is about to close up shop. After getting a full evaluation, we learn that Amber had a hysterical pregnancy and as such never had a kid to begin with. Blackstein gets rid of his dog, but his dog fights back. Later, Structor welcomes yet another sub teacher, however this one isn’t blonde.

This week’s episode of HUSA! was again a controversial topic and what’s great about the writing in this series is that you think you know where this episode is going after a few weeks of getting to know the style only to get the sudden curveball that comes at the end. However, the premise was sort of the pitfall this week, because I thought the choices storyline just got repetitive and with that went some of the punchlines. There were a decent amount of laughs that were had and I honestly thought the majority of them were with the dog. The ugly mutt biting everything that moves was just awesome and was hysterically capped off with a Scooby-Doo ode.
