Review: Crash and Bernstein ‘Like Father, Like Purple’

Spoilers Below

Wyatt’s back at the junkyard building something and of course Crash is no help. Turns out its for school and Crash destroys it, but when Wyatt’s dad is in town he takes off to see what’s up.Wyatt’s dad is Carl and its the GUY FROM 2 GUYS A GIRL AND A PIZZA PLACE! Typically, this guy goes all over the world taking pictures of wild life and isn’t in town that often. Dad leaves and has to go reunite with some friends, but Crash isn’t a fan of Carl. Crash and Carl are now in a competition to gain the affection of Wyatt. Cleo wants to prepare Carl for a father-daughter dance and she’s just terrible, really it’s bad. Crash however is all about dancing and shows the duo a thing or two. Next, Crash and Carl vie for showing Wyatt how to ride a bull.

Crash continues to train Cleo in dancing but she’s unteachable. Mel finally tells Crash that he has to give some space away from Carl and Wyatt while they try to bond a little. Carl tries to take modeling pics of Amanda, but only when she’s in her unnatural habitat. Wyatt agrees to bring Carl to his photo club, but even here Crash shows off all the crazy shit he does…most of which is probably fake. Eventually, Crash and Carl start fighting and it puts Wyatt in a weird spot.

Mel and Amanda start to commiserate about Carl’s picture taking while Crash decides to work with the guys to try and build a bridge, but Crash is a douche. Crash tells Carl that he’s trying to take Wyatt away which eventually leads to them driving Wyatt away. Wyatt’s project still gets crushed and when he brings it to school Carl shows up and tries to explain, but Crash well crashes into the school. Crash smashes all of the other bridges and Carl befriends the stuffed guy once and for all.

Whoa! Did someone FIRE all of the writers from Crash and Bernstein? This whole season has been utter trash so far and NOW we get the best episode of maybe the show’s entire run. Richard Ruccolo should be a permanent member of the show roster because I thought he was outstanding as ‘Carl’ and worked great with Mary Birdsong as ‘Mel however I was a bit confused to their history. Are they still an item or are they divorced? I think these are subjects that have never really been confronted on the Disney XD series and I think that should change. Landry Bender as Cleo did more than enough to deliver coming off of her most recent mess, and although Wyatt and Amanda were rather minimized, Crash did enough to make sure that although we had pretty much our third competition for C&B this week that at least it was fun.
