REVIEW: CHINA IL ‘PRANK WEEK’

pranks

Watch yo ass, spoilers below ho.

I had actually seen a short clip of this episode before at NYCC (the Joe McCarthy witch hunt day dream – if you’re wondering).  OH, is you jealous?  Good, I like that shit.  I WANNA FEEL THAT JEALOUSY BITCH.  LOOK AT ME UP IN MY EYES WHEN YOU DO THAT SHIT.

So, I guess let’s talk about this episode some.  Sure.

This week’s China featured three subplots as follows: Baby Cakes thinks he’s hunting wizards for Joe McCarthy, Pony is trying to cope with Steve being banished from town, and Steve is learning to harness his piss-powers.

Right, so these uber-short descriptions won’t make much sense until you watch the episode but it will help me keep my train of thought in some sort of cohesive chain, therefore PASSING THE KNOWLEDGE ON TO YOUUUUUU (used car salesman voice).

There was a few quick one liners in this ep that definitely cracked me up momentarily, including but not limited to: every time The Dean is on screen.  My dedicated readers will know I fucking love that guy and am continually surprised how great of a job [Papa] Hogan is doing voicing him.  Well, I guess “Hulk” was an actor for sorts for like 30 years.  Interesting, I never really thought of it like that before.  He may be the most experienced actor on the squad if you think of it that way. #PROFOUNDASFUCK

So what do I think about this episode as a whole?  Not bad.  The sub-plots here managed to hit the usual ‘imagination run wild’ criteria that you will look for in an episode of China, but in my opinion didn’t push my buttons in the way that the show usually manages to do (hard and fast until climax).  I didn’t feel physically uncomfortable while watching this weeks installment either, which has seemingly become a mainstay of China’s ‘fuck you’ writing style that I have learned to appreciate.

Creative but not really over the top enough to garner higher marks.  Plus this week was pretty song deficient.  I love the China songs.  This is known.
