Review: Axe Cop “When Night Creatures Attack”

Spoilers Below
Flute Cop tells Uni-Baby a really scary story about Night Creatures attacking babies and he falls asleep in the chair.
Axe, Flute, and Grey Diamond start off their day just like any other day, but all of the sudden the sun goes down at an unusual hour. Axe eventually tells the guys that despite Flute’s assertions to the contrary, that the sun is being stolen by Night Creatures. Worst yet, when the gang gets pulled over for speeding by Normal cops, the Night Creatures attack, throw Axe’s cop car off of a cliff, and then transform so that they look just like evil-versions of Grey Diamond, Flute Cop, and Axe Cop. These creatures want to eat up all the babies, so that’s what they do they go door to door just snatching up babies with the intent to eat them. Uni-baby is one of those victims, and although they were facing certain death the good guy versions of Axe, Flute, and Grey get saved by Wexter. Flute and Axe decide to split up with Flute Cop looking to save Uni-baby from being turned into a night creature and with Axe going to get the sun back. Axe and Grey don their sun-holding gloves and are able to chase the guys towing the sun and get it back. Anita and Flute end up fighting the night creatures, but Axe Cop and ONLY Axe Cop is able to get the sun to shine and destroy all that is dark. The townsfolk get their babies back and let’s get a LASER HIGH-FIVE!
The episode had a lot of things wrong from the outset for me. Axe Cop driving a normal police car, the night creatures looking VERY inspired by a movie called Attack the Block, and the baby story from the opening portion looking VERY Kal-El. However, the second Wexter came to the rescue, Axe Cop turned back into the series we all know and love. The space-flying scenes with Wexter leading the charge against the guys taking the sun really was a loose plot hole, but the scene’s sarcasm was so over-the-top you forget all of that. I also was rather pumped to see Flute Cop in action and furthermore both Flute AND Grey Diamond were helping carry the jokes load with Flute always keeping a more grounded and acerbic tone to counteract Axe’s random dialogue. Grey Diamond was probably twice as funny tonight compared to all of the episode he has been featured in as he definitely has this funny-idiot notion to him that just works over and over again. And finally, kudos to Megan Mullally for playing a bunch of important roles like the restaurant lady AND going over time on Anita this week.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
