Review: High School USA! ‘Best Friends Forever’

 Spoilers Below

First thing’s first, Marsh’s dad? Kinda a dick for eating his kid’s school lunch. Cassandra’s a dick for wanting to fuck everything that moves…ok maybe not. But Brad is DEFINITELY a dick for punching everyone.

Stan’s Dad is still creepy as he shits his bed but Marsh seems fine with it. However, Amber’s parents are now into filming amateur porn and she is PISSED because her mom whom is supposed to be her BFF didn’t tell her. Marsh wants to help, but how?

Marsh calls up Amber’s mom to see what the hell happened, but he really doesn’t now what to do. Marsh runs into Officer Dumphy who tells the kid all about the olden days of porn. Afterwards, Marsh holds an intervention with Amber, but it doesn’t really work. Mrs. Lamber eventually talks to Amber and they apologize…how?? Well the kids start helping produce the next chapter in Lamber’s parents that sees Marsh’s dad shit in the bed.

Look everyone, this show has problems but the good kind. It’s like the darkest thoughts someone can think all rolled into a 10 minute orgy which is ironic because that’s more or less the premise of this week’s episode. South Park, old-School Family Guy, and High School USA!. When historians talk about controversial cartoons 25 years from now the same way they do about Roodrunner/Wile E. Coyote and Tom/Jerry today, people will hear about this show as well they should because it’s one of the few that continues to challenge our basic principles. There used to be a time when 60 years ago, husbands and wives weren’t seen sleeping together in what was called the ‘Golden Age of Cinema’. With shows like High School USA! we break those rules and I’m loving every minute of the ride.

That said, the nuts and bolts of the episode were a bit loose leading up to the epic…um climax in terms of a firm-story driven plot. But, Officer Dumphy, Mr. Merriweather, and Mrs. Lamber all do their part in their respective acts to make sure that you are still paying attention because a lot of the shit they say is solid gold. Also, Brad was dropping BOMBS tonight and for some reason was extra sinister during the course of the episode. The animation was a bit clunkier this time around as well and I’m told this was one of the first episodes produced. Really though, I’m not sure why FOX wouldn’t broadcast this episode because there really wasn’t anything THAT terrible.
