Home Release Review: South Park The Complete 16th Season on DVD/Blu-Ray
South Park probably has the biggest uphill battles to climb when it gets a home release mainly because every episode is available on SouthParkStudios.com.. The difference here is that show creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, despite the fact that they make HUGE Broadway shows and had to write what must be an all-day of a plot for South Park: The Stick of Truth, provide mini-commentaries for EVERY FUCKING EPISODE. This is a really big deal because no one else does this and these guys do which gives them extra points in my book.
Another X-factor that this show provides that most other animated shows do not is the fact that you can select either a 2-disc Blu-Ray format or a 3-disc DVD for your home release. The only other real strength of the release are the small amount of deleted scenes (I would say about five minutes worth) which is somewhat of a letdown when you consider that last year we had the ‘6 Days to Air’ doc.
The latest entry in the long history of South Park on home release is a welcome addition, and lets face it this season alone was ranked as one of the best animated shows in 2012, the special features (even though scant) is the gravy on the side.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
