Bubbleblabber vs Carl’s Stone Cold Pick of the NFL Week 6: Steelers vs Jets

Ugh I should go with my gut because as both myself and Carl learned last week, you should never give anything to the Giants…including a win. It looks as though the Gints are gonna clean house maybe starting this weekend and with that Carl jumps over the kinda streaky Jets led by their freshman QB, Geno Smith. This week Carl picks the Jets to win and I think I’m going to agree again as the Steelers look rather hapless as well.

Steelers: Led by Big Ben, the Steelers are coming off of a loss followed by a bye and they NEED this win but Dick Lebeau’s once feared Defense is going through a transition period and I think that’s going to spell disaster for this team and as such I see a bunch of three and outs on Offense followed by long spells of D. This usually doesn’t bode well for anyone and worse yet Pitt’s run game is so depressing right now and can’t seem to find any sort of rhythm and the O-line isn’t helping much either.

Jets: In the pre-season, I told friends that Geno was going to take the reins and then Rex Ryan would be fired. However, Rex’s D is starting to look as potent as it did in his Baltimore days and as a result these guys could make a decent run at the playoffs. Clearly, teams like Denver, Indy, and KC are in the way and as such I don’t think it will be a DEEP run, but they could be a threat for first place as the Pats have all sorts of issues both on and off the field. I think the Jets D-Line will put enough pressure on Ben to make him uncomfortable despite the fact that their D-backfield is open for business.
