Shorts Review: Losing It with John Stamos featuring Matt Stone from South Park
Spoilers Below
So Yahoo! is debuting a bunch of new shows, and releasing them all at once, as is the trend nowadays following the success of Netflix shows like House of Cards and Arrested Development. However, we’re going to spread out the reviews a bit, as to make the fun last a little longer and not blow our whole wad at once.
When I initially heard the title of our first show, Losing It With John Stamos, I thought it was going to be about people going completely banana sandwich and engaging in random mischief and shenanigans with everyone’s favorite former TV uncle. Instead it’s actually about sex. (Of course! Like everything else in the world nowadays. Grrr rawr morals, kids these days, rabble rabble Miley Cyrus rabble rabble.)
The show features Stamos interviewing celebrities about their first time, and includes some brief illustration of their story – be it through cartoons, dolls, puppets, etc.
The first episode we are reviewing guest-starred South Park co-creator Matt Stone, and I have to say, it was pretty damn funny. Ever the storyteller, Stone added plenty of humor to his account of giving up his V-card, and Stamos was a charming (and ruggedly-handsome) host.
This show already appears to be a great way to bring celebrities down to the level of us everyday people (well, not me, because I’m clearly a famous interweb writer guy) by revolving around a topic that we can all relate to. Except ChefRich; I heard that guy is still trying to make his first notch in the ol’ bedpost. Keep reaching for that rainbow, buddy!
My only minor complaint about the series, upon viewing only this episode, is that the back-and-forth was a bit too much for the show’s flow at times. Instead of only a couple questions followed by long, extended answers, there were little tidbits of humor sprinkled in amongst the story. Don’t get me wrong, this is an essential (and the best) part of the show, because this is where most of the laughs come from, but when Stamos would repeatedly ask a question to keep the story moving after a joke, it came off a little Dr. Phil-y. Only much, much funnier, of course, and a hell-of-a-lot less depressing. Plus I would never want to strangle John Stamos simply because of the sound of his voice. He’s the right pick to be a host, and the list of celebrity guests is truly an impressive and interesting bunch.
Plus, just as I was writing that last paragraph, I looked up to see John Stamos’ young, ‘90s-coiffed face on my TV screen, staring back at me. And inexplicably so, because I have no idea how my TV changed from baseball to Full House.
John? Are you in here?

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
