Youtube creators introduce MixBit
A new entry into the short-clip space has some heavy backing.
The thing you should know about people who get into tech start ups is that a lot of the times people start their companies, make a bunch of money, then sell for even more money, only to start a new venture. Notable names like Sean Parker, Mark Cuban, and now Chad Hurley and Steve Chen have not only seen success with their previous endeavors, but they like to see if they can double down and come up with something else or invest in something that creates cash.
Who are Chad Hurley and Steve Chen you ask? Well, these guys created Youtube, the now second biggest search engine other than Google aka the company that bought them. I recall when Youtube first got purchased, analysts would question what the hell Google would do with their new asset in terms of making a profit. Nowadays, Youtube has become as important as television in getting to view new content as ordinary comedians like Daniel Tosh have certainly profited from people uploading silly content, but also notable people like Justin Bieber and Lady Gag owe a lot of their earlier success to the one-time tech start-up despite the fact that both now kinda suck. That said, Youtube for us has turned into a cartoon haven helping launch the likes of Mondo, Shut Up Cartoons, Cartoon Hangover, and a whole bunch more and even has given the opportunity for a brand like Machinima to spin-off brands within the huge network of channels to create unique packages geared towards strict markets.
However, a new trend has begun to emerge in REALLY short clips coming from providers like Vine, Instagram, and Tout and already companies are using these methods to help promote their content. Now Chad Hurley and Steve Chen seek to enhance that with their new app called MixBit. MixBit is a new Google/iTunes app that lets you take a bunch of short clips and put them together to create an hour’s worth of content. Even cooler is that you can collaborate with people from all over to create these longer form videos. So, if you are a cartoonist in California, you can not only share but add to your friend’s work that may have begun in NYC.
So, did Chad Hurley and Steve Chen create the next BIG frontier in animation? Sound off in the comments below and check out https://mixbit.com/
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
