Wouldn’t it be great if on @FamilyGuyonFOX Peter Griffin could just say ‘F*ck’ on TV without bleeps? That would be America.

Monday night on the Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert did a story on how the major broadcast networks (NBC, FOX, ABC, and CBS) are petitioning the FCC to allow them to curse more akin to basic cable channels. Could it happen? WE HOPE!

Growing up a fan of the Howard Stern Show has taught me one thing and one thing only about the FCC…they suck dick. Yep, they do. From levying fines with really no clout, to getting freaked out over Super Bowl side boob, the FCC usually bitches and moans more so over what they consider ‘indecent’ content vs any religious group and as such we live in a world where Stewie can’t tell another baby to go fuck themselves without getting a bleep having instead to wait for the home release.

However, could that change? As mentioned in the intro, Stephen Colbert did a story on how the major broadcast networks (NBC, FOX, ABC, and CBS) are petitioning the FCC to allow them to curse more akin to basic cable channels and I couldn’t agree more, but it could still be better on cable. Just ONCE I want to hear Sterling Archer tell Lana to shut the fuck up without any bleeps. Just once I want Mordecai and Rigby to tell  Benson to go eat a dick. For years we’ve been dealing with oppressed free speech due to the fact that we think kids shouldn’t hear this shit because then they grow up to be serial killers all of which isn’t true. Kids grow up to be serial killers because of lack of mental health care options for kids with disorders post high school, not because of cartoons.

Not only that, but in this day and age its easier then ever for a 13 year old kid to hop on Youtube and hear all of the piss/shit/fucks he or she wants so why even bother competing? I mentioned in an earlier review that I thought that Hulu’s The Awesomes being censored was a bad idea and I stick by that because here I am paying hard-earned money per month JUST to get animated censor content? With the only added value being that I now can watch cartoons from the likes of Seth Meyers, Eva Longoria, and other types that don’t have their respective shows on TV, Hulu certainly took a step back in the evolution of internet television by giving us content that is censored. And by who? For what? Why? Why is saying ‘Fuck’ on TV WAY WORSE than seeing people get blown up on the news?

So if the FCC does indeed loosen regulations on cuss words on broadcast TV, I would for the first time in a while believe in the long sullied government institution. It would show that the FCC has finally grown a set and let us really take advantage of the First Amendment. The same First Amendment we get to see soldiers dying for every day on TV right around 5pm, still early enough for everyone to watch.

And now, watch Hugh Laurie and Stephen Colbert proudly announce a list of the words that the networks are fighting for…
