Review: Axe Cop ‘Babysitting Unibay’

Flute Cop is taking his lady to Hawaii so he asks Axe Cop to baby sit Uni-baby.Turns out this kid’s horn holds a lot of power and this might be too much to handle so he invites Sockarang over, leaves behind cyborg versions of themselves, and heads to Magic World. Right away the cops show up and the dynamic duo has to run away. Thankfully, they brought the Unibaby’s horn with them so they take off and start performing at a magic show where they make a bunch of cash and buy up a Chubby doll. The doll gets sent to check on Unibaby and guess what? The cyborgs are going crazy, but they are no match for Axe and Flute. However, when Axe and Flute decide to take Unibaby to the bank, they get a call from the cops that the cyborgs are robbing a bank. With his weapon of choice left at home, Axe Cop has to deploy the carriage poop-wagon to destroy the bots and bring Unibaby home in time for Flute and his wife.

This week’s episode felt more like an Archer episode where we got more delicious one-liners, but with Axe Cop I expect more fighting. As great as it was hearing Axe’s thoughts on babies and pooping and whatnot, I much prefer when he’s wielding his axe like a mad man taking out everything that moves. I also liked Sockarang’s development as I thought this was the first week we REALLY got to see the character get some lime-light. Pat Oswalt really is the perfect voice for him, but we really didn’t get to see how good he was until this week. From flexing his sock powers to joining in on the one-liner parade, Sockarang does a great job of sounding like he’s playing with Axe Cop. Magic World was another example, Axe Cop really is a play pen of awesome characters that gets interrupted by bad guys, but where were the bad guys this week?
