Could the MikeTyson-AdultSwim animated series be in trouble?

And there’s a legit and maybe sad reason after the jump.

People whom followed the sport of boxing in the early 90’s know that Mike Tyson was truly the baddest motherfucker in the ring. No joke, his intimidation tactics and the short/MONSTROUS blows Mike would often end his fights early and with his arm raised with some sort of a belt.

Mike Tyson would go on to make more money than just about anyone in boxing, but after years of legal/spousal/ and drug troubles he spent it all and is now pretty much broke. However, Mike had been telling the world over the last year or so that he was leading a vegan/drug free lifestyle, but as of last week during interviews to help promote Friday Night Fights on ESPN, Mike had told the world that he was on the verge of death due to alcoholism and furthermore lied about being sober.

With this startling revelation could the Mike Tyson Mysteries series on Adult Swim be in trouble? For those that don’t recall, Mike Tyson Mysteries was a new series that was in development for Adult Swim with the network putting out a press release with this snippet:

Mike Tyson is taking the fight from the boxing ring to the streets… by solving mysteries! Armed with a magical tattoo on his face and a trusty associate by his side — a talking pigeon — if you have a problem that needs solving, Iron Mike is in your corner. The series incorporates live-action appearances featuring Mighty Mike himself, and the gloves come off as the former heavyweight champ and his fowl-mouthed partner gear up for weekly adventures as they put unsolved mysteries — like how to defeat a super computer at chess or why a famous author/werewolf can’t finish his novel — down for the count.

Mike Tyson was my favorite fighter as a kid, so getting to write about him doing cartoons is a dream, so I hope he is able to pull through and be happy and healthy. Whether or not his current condition affects the future of the Mike Tyson Mysteries series remains to be seen, but we are hoping for the best!
