Review: The Looney Tunes Show ‘The Year of the Duck’
Spoilers Below
Whilst getting ready to eat dinner at a local Chinese joint, Porky finds out that it’s ‘Year of the Pig’which has Daffy all pissed off because ducks have nothing. Obviously, Bugs thinks his long-time roomie is overreacting, but Daffy is hell bent on proving that ducks are awesome no matter what anyone says. As a result he goes to Foghorn’s office and after finding out that ducks are ranked 64th on the animal popularity list, Foggy offers to do some PR to improve on the image of ducks world wide. They decide to take Daffy and book him on the Tit for Tat show hosted by the great Elmer Fudd. Unfortunately, when Daffy gets on TV it turns into a total mess and Foghorn has to save the poor duck before he tanks the duck mantra completely.
Meanwhile, Bugs gets an invite to host a beauty pageant mainly due to the fact that Lola pitches the event as being easy as cake. However, Bugs soon finds out that he has to do a whole bunch of choreography numbers and give speeches so he isn’t exactly thrilled that he took the job. Heck, even when he rehearses his opening monologue for Lola and Porky, it turns sour and as a result Porky tries his hand at the monologue and it kills the room. However, we have a NEW contestant for said beauty pageant.
Yep, Tina Russo . After begging and crying and pleading with Tina, Daffy convinces her to join the beauty pageant so that when she wins she can give ducks a good name. Unfortunately, Lola dolls Tina up like a Gremlin but Bugs doesn’t care because he handed over hosting duties to Porky. Bugs has second thoughts though because he finds out that it’s really year of the rabbit, not year of the pig. But, Bugs is such a great dude he doesn’t tell Porky and instead pumps his friend full of confidence as he heads on stage. The show goes on and Tina doesn’t win but ducks fly together. Especially with duck sauce.
HA! Take THAT TV Guide! In any case this week’s episode of The Looney Tunes Show was hysterical and it was good to see seldom used characters like Elmer Fudd and Foghorn get a little bit of screen time. Daffy is turning into one of my favorite animated characters, and the scene during the pageant was proof as we were watching him battle the rankings against pigs as Porky was dying on stage. Also, Kristen Wiig as Lola is pure insanity in terms of talent as she is so good. Like, it’s a marvel watching how fast her character moves and how Kristen is able to keep up with it like a champ (or Emmy winner). Even if there isn’t a year of the duck, this episode proved there definitely was a day FOR the duck!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
