Review: Gravity Falls ‘Dreamscaperers’
Spoilers Below
Gideon’s back and he wants Stan’s code to his safe so that he can take the deed to the Shack and take over his competition. Unfortunately for Gideon, the combination is in Gideon’s mind. This causes Gideon to resort to summoning a dream demon named Billy Cipher, and before you can even blink he gets inside Stan’s Mind. Dipper, Mabel, and Soos decide to read some incantations of their own and follow in after Billy in an attempt to save their Uncle.
Everyone’s in and the Shack crew meet up with Cipher of whom has no idea where Stan’s combo is. Turns out, Stan’s mind is non-too dissimilar to that scene in Matrix Reloaded where Neo would eventually meet the architect. And just like in that movie, no good news comes from this maze. For starters, Dipper wanders into a room filled with Stan’s memories of Dipper where Stan wishes he could get rid of the kid. Next, Mabel ends up taking a disguised Cipher straight to the secret room where the memory is held featuring Stan opening his safe.
Dipper rejoins the group and tells everyone what he learns about Stan’s true feelings towards him so as everyone is trying to catch up to Cipher, Dipper is looking for an exit. Unfortunately, he walks into the wrong door and revisits the memory from before when he hears that Stan doesn’t like him. However, upon further review, Stan was just talking about himself and as such Dipper learns that his Uncle just wants whats best for him. As a result, he rejoins the group as they are battling Cipher and even more so Dipper tells everyone that if they can imagine something, ANYTHING, they can use it to fight Cipher. The group does just that, but Cipher calls a truce. Stan wakes up and Soos, Dipper, and Mabel are back in the real world and everything seems cool until Gideon shows up with TNT and blows open Stan’s safe, taking his lease to the Shack. With a wrecking ball on the way, we get the show’s first “…to be continued”.
WOW! And just like that, Gravity Falls strikes back with another stellar effort. Bill Cipher might be my new favorite villain and I don’t think it’s the last time we see his 3-sided ass neither. The atmosphere and the mood of this episode was none too dissimilar to the space elements we’ve seen in Regular Show but I actually think that helped this series in that Gravity Falls can match tic for tac against Cartoon Network’s best show. I also liked getting to learn more about Stan as we got to see elements of his childhood e.g. him being a wimp only to fight back as it definitely kept the episode grounded with a strong human emotion. Thankfully, we only have to wait until August 2nd because that cliffhanger was a punch in the stomach for someone wanting to see more. I can already see Cipher planning SOME sort of revenge on Gideon.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
