Review: Bounty Hunters ‘Rebel Hell’
Spoilers Below
The guys are looking for Jersey Joe, a typical guinea looking bastard on the run for bashing in another dude’s skull. The crew eventually get a tip that leads them to an amusement park called Rebel Land. It’s here we see Jeff run into his ex-wife Stacy, and her new dude Nathan with Colbie the former couple’s son. Jeff feels his kid’s first time at the park should be with his dad, and as such Jeff checks out the park with his ex fam whilst Larry and Bill try to hunt down Jersey Joe.
Jeff uses his opportunity with the ex wife and his kid to try and impress his son by challenging Nathan to a bunch of games. But guess what? Nathan hates spinning rides and when Jeff finds this out he uses this to his advantage and the douche gets sick. The ex gets pissed, but Colbie gets stuck on one of the rides and Jeff’s gotta get him down. Eventually, Nathan and Jeff have to work together to get Colbie’s kart moving again.
While this is going on, Bill and Larry find their culprit. They try to wrangle the suspect, but he gets away. They follow Joe to his group of thugs, but are outnumbered and as such run away. They find some Confederate soldiers and take part in another battle, but then Joe runs off with Bill and Larry following closely behind….that is until Larry gets his hands on some donuts. He eats a whole bunch and starts barfing which causes Joe to slip and get arrested.
This episode gets a split decision from me. Here’s why…Jeff chilling with his ex family was pretty funny most notably when he shows his son all over the park at the different attractions. But, you probably saw the ending a mile away in terms of Nathan and Jeff having to work together to get the job done. Something tells me we are going to see a lot of those, but hey maybe I’m wrong. On the other hand Bill and Larry had a pretty awesome sub plot featuring one of the better montages I’ve ever seen in an animated series. The punchline for said sequence was hysterical and a tad controversial if you catch the setup. Also, the fact that Larry puked all over which lead to slipping tells me these writers mean business in sketching up comical endings. There’s a lot of talent to be had here and I think it may just be starting to get better. Also with other ancillary characters like Stacy (Sam Bee), Nathan (Jason Jones), and Lisa (tonight’s script sounded more like her versus the first episode) there are some strong pieces here.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
