Review: Arby ‘N’ The Chief Season 7, Episode 20

Spoilers Below

Two questions. One: how the hell does this show keep getting better and better? And two: how can this be the last season? Without a doubt, with only four episodes to go, Arby N the Chief is the best it has ever been. Each episode is like a well-rounded, well-scripted, and well-shot film. After only twelve minutes, you feel like you’ve seen a story much longer, but without time or the show dragging at all. This most-recent episode was no exception.

Since there are only a few episodes left, I’ll try to refrain from any major spoilers.

Master Chief and the Arbiter mutually acknowledge that the clan – Eugene, Colin, and Tyler – are in the wrong and need to be stopped. Chief, in a moment of independent sincerity, warns a younger gamer to stay away from Colin, telling him he’s bad news. This was the same kid whom Chief previously saw Colin talking inappropriately with. Though Arby and Chief both admitted they liked having their new friends, they decide they need to fragban them to make things right.

Before finding any clan members, the duo ran into Michelle – Eugene’s girlfriend – and told her everything her boyfriend and the rest have been up to. Immediately afterward, Arbiter and Chief play a voicemail from Eugene, which asking them to meet up. Though Eugene and Arby both appear civil at first during their rendezvous, both also have backup shooters waiting to strike. And then the firing began.

Most of the episodes this season (including this one) have managed to reveal something important, initiate a climactic or exciting moment, spring a twist on the audience, or some combination of these. Regardless of which, it always leaves the viewer wanting more.

Like the previous episodes this season, the last one mixes this type of ending with a creative and gripping overall story, and – of course – lots of humorous dialogue. Chief gets in a few classic jokes, like >:D (pronounced, “mischievous face,” something I wish more people understood so I could use it in everyday life) as well as a hilarious joke about Arbiter’s mom. The show seems to have a knack for breaking the tension or mood of a serious or sincere moment with a line like: “will we get all the bitches?”

Keep putting out quality installments like these, and yes, you’ll get all the bitches. Every last one of them.
