On June 9th, 1978 Larry Bird entered the NBA Draft with the Boston Celtics picking him up with the 6th pick. However, Larry had declared for the draft one year before he was set to graduate at Indiana State. Larry decided to return to school his senior year so he can graduate, but Boston still had first rights to sign him. That however, means nothing as just as easily Larry could have entered the draft again and not sign anything hoping to land with maybe his hometown team the Pacers, a team that had convinced him to drop out of school and play pro-ball. However, Larry Bird showed his true colors…Green. As Larry Bird would sign with the Boston Celtics on a 4 year- $3.25 million contract which at the time was a record rookie contract.  Check out highlights from one of Larry Bird’s finest rookie performances against the Clippers way back in 1980!
