Simpsons writer goes Christmas special with @NBC
It’s half-Christmas which means we are just starting to hear about Christmas specials, but given the network THIS one is a surprise!
We’ve written on several occasions about NBC‘s lack of getting in on the prime-time animation front and for the rest of 2013 it looks like it will stay that way. However, next year is a whole ‘nother ball game as NBC is teaming up with Mike Reiss (The Simpsons) to bring his children’s book How Murray Saved Christmas to airwaves Dec 2014. The special is going to be produced at Rough Draft Studios (The Simpsons ) and the score will be done by the great Walter Murphy (Family Guy) so already it sounds appealing. However, one of the commenters actually wondered if this would set itself up to be a backdoor pilot for NBC.
I actually doubt it because the special is being commissioned as a one our musical-comedy special and those are yesterday’s news so I doubt a series would be ordered. But, could this be a yearly deal??? Hmmmmmm. In any case, let’s hope this turns into more cartoons one day for NBC.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
