Shorts Reviews: Planets (@PlanetsToon) Episodes 1 and 2

Planets

Spoilers Below

One of things that is interesting to see as the rise of cartoon channels start to settle on Youtube is that a lot of the shows like to out gross each other or something outlandish. Shut Up Cartoons definitely has had a few shows that were more geared towards adults but for the most part they have offered up programming that definitely fit prime-time stuff you would see on Cartoon Network with a few exceptions that are probably more suited towards an Adult Swim. Planets is definitely a Cartoon Network show, but its not so much a show like Regular Show where parents would clearly not understand what the fuck is going on. Instead Planets is a show unlike The Annoying Orange that features a group of characters that has goofiness for fans of Regular Show but with its injection of reality show inspired directing definitely gives something for the parents. And the fact that the show is all about planets and at times features cute humor to go along with its smart premise makes this one all the more worthwhile.

Season 1 the show was good, but this season I think everything is planned out better during the course of the episodes and as such we get a more wholesome meal. Episode 11 of Season 2 features Baby Earth wondering where planets come from which is something that has been done a thousand times, but with almost a scientific base in the Planets premise we get a bunch of funny moments you wouldn’t be able to pull off with other shows. Same with Episode 12 that sees Satyrn acting her normal ‘Snookie’ self, but equipped with her dog ‘Pluto’ we get a funny twist that is sure to please. You can tell creator Matt Clark works hard at making this one special, and it shows. We will do check ups to make sure the show is up to snuff so keep it locked.
