Shorts Review: @DonCheto Episode 2 on @Nuevon
Spoilers Below
Cheto really does it this time ! Instead of listening to his daughter who plan ned to throw a regular suburban party for her son Briancito at Chuck E. Cheeses’, he decides to order long overdue pastries, piñatas and janky illegal fireworks to throw a party like the ones of Cheto’s childhood, in true Mexican tradition. Things get a little more than messy, when Don Cheto’s son lights the bottle rockets straight from the cardboard box, without even positioning them. The Police squadron arrives as soon as chaos ensues due to the ramped fireworks activity followed by the guest’s rancid reaction to the putrid pastries. One of the members of the squadron come in to the party (resembling the Buzzlightyear of Briancito’s piñata) wearing some sort of biohazard gear to grab a sample of the pastry as the main officer speculates that Cheto may be armed with bio-weapons and announces that the party may need to stay in quarantine .
The police ask Don Cheto if he is too good for Chuck E. Cheeses’, and before he is able to complete his answer he is shot with a tranquilizer. The show ends with Don Cheto dozing off into a bad trip, a twisted nightmare involving a creepy florescent Chuck E. Cheese and everyone wearing odd mouse make-up.
I loved the way this episode ended with the nightmare sequence. I thought they did a great job capturing what it means to be in a bad dream with the sounds and eerie music. It was great to see this episode take unexpected turns and twist with the humor and story line. This is were I start to see how the show takes a more loopy “Family Guy” direction, and I now realize why people may say they are the Family Guy for the Mexican viewer. I found the exaggerations of this episode to be especially funny and witty. I enjoyed the deliveryman’s ghetto voice and the reference to piñatas that make cheap versions of kid’s idols, “mexi-buzzlightyear”. I like where these guys are going with the ethno-cultural humor that ties in with media. I was surprised to be humored this time much more than I was with the first episode. Overall this is a great laugh whether you get the cultural references or not.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
