There comes a time in a man’s life when he knows he’s witnessed something truly amazing. And since I’ve been covering the web for the better part of a year here on Bubbleblabber, I’ve been privy to that feeling more than most measly humans. So when I say that Rocket Dog is quite possibly the best show I’ve seen on the internet this year, you best believe that Cartoon Hangover has struck animated gold with this show. The animation has a bit of a Bob’s Burgers feel with sprinklings of that old school, 90’s style feel seen in Rocko’s Modern Life and Doug. The coloring on the show is bright, expressive and really enjoyable. But what really sticks out to me is the voice acting. Character design and voice overs match up perfectly, establishing a connection between character and viewer not normally felt while watching most of the drivel we all find on the net. And they do it with a British accent, which always makes things feel a bit more special.

The humor in this show is so incredibly well written that it deserves it’s own paragraph. The obliviously genuine sweetness/borderline homicidal insanity of Rocket Dog is a sight to behold. It seems a bit difficult, even as I type this, to say that a dog who literally farts afterburners is a riveting character. Bob, in all honesty, kinda reminds me of a modern day, hipster Chandler from Friends. The way these characters mesh on screen is nothing short of finding the comedic Holy Grail. Factor the rough and grumble Derek into the mix and you’ve got yourself a show that I know for certain I’ll be watching every week.
