Review: Phineas and Ferb ‘Primal Perry’
Spoilers Below
Usually Major and Carl tube in on some sort of monitor, but this time they try on a little breaking and entering to let Perry know about a new mission. He must go to a botanical garden and see what’s up. Once there, we meet Doof who ends up dealing with two old ladies that constantly tell the customers to keep off the Botanical Gardens grass. He then summons a boomerang wielding brute named Liam McCracken whose specialty is to hunt down and eliminate Platypuses. That said, Doof starts to get turned off by Liam’s excessive boomerang use which causes him to get chained to Perry. Unfortunately, Perry loses his fedora and Doof is unsure of who this platypus is, so he names him Steven. The handcuffed duo runs off while Liam is in pursuit but soon decide to use their combined efforts in making a stand against Liam and fight back. Phineas and Doof soon get separated, and Doof runs off while Perry uses the power of frisbees to thwart Liam’s barrage of boomerangs. Liam looks to get the upper hand, but Dr. Doof returns with the two old ladies from the Gardens whom handle Liam.
Meanwhile, Baljeet is unable to make any legit choices on his own so Phineas builds a machine that can help him do just that. Pretty much its a cloning machine, that allows Baljeey to not make a choice but instead have the option of everything. Candace uses this as another opp to get Phineas and trouble as she is able to more easily grab a couple of Baljeet’s and provide evidence while stating her case to her mom. However, despite repeated attempts Candace can’t seem to get multiple Baljeets in front of Linda so no dice. That said, the Baljeet clones get out of control, but they mobilize and decide to fight back at Buford of whom is always teasing him. Unfortunately, a stray boomerang comes in and crashes Phineas’ machine which leaves us with one Baljeet again and Candace still in a losing fight.
What’s kind of strange about this episode is that it may have worked better as a regular 12 minute affair just focusing on the Perry/Doof plot. I believe this for a few reasons but the main one being that Jesse Spencer did a really great job as Liam and as a result the whole plot overshadowed the Baljeet story line which made me not want to watch it as much. Granted seeing a bunch of Baljeets was rather humorous, I just thought that Liam was so over the top that it should have been the focus. Also, how many times do we get to see Perry and Doof team up? It isn’t often, but when it goes down Doof is great at providing random jibber jabber whilst Perry is doing all of the heavy lifting. As mentioned, Liam was the real star tonight and I certainly loved the character. Hearing Jesse Spencer rattle off the huge numbers of boomerangs at his disposal never got old and I could’ve listened to it on repeat a few more times.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
